Investigators from the Investigation Service of Georgia's Ministry of Finance have shut down an unlicensed live-streaming studio in Batumi that was broadcasting live gambling sessions for foreign online casinos.
Unlicensed Live Gambling Operations
According to official law enforcement statements, the covert studio operated without obtaining the required regulatory permits. By conducting illegal gambling broadcasts for international platforms, the operators evaded a 100,000 GEL annual state licensing fee required for legal gaming operations under Georgian law.
During operational search measures, investigators seized broadcasting equipment, computing devices, and specialized gaming paraphernalia used to stream live table games to overseas users.
Criminal Charges and Legal Proceedings
Following the raid, law enforcement officers arrested one individual directly connected to the facility's operations, while criminal charges were filed in absentia against a second suspect.
The case is being prosecuted under Article 192 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which addresses illegal entrepreneurial activity. If convicted, the suspects face statutory penalties ranging from 3 to 5 years in prison. Investigative actions remain ongoing to identify any additional accomplices involved in the scheme.
