Adjara criminal police have detained two foreign nationals wanted internationally at Turkey's request. The arrests took place in Batumi during separate police operations conducted at different times.
Interpol Red Notice Operations
The two foreign citizens were targeted under Interpol Red Notices, an international mechanism used by law enforcement agencies worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest individuals pending extradition.
Georgian law enforcement authorities executed the operations following official requests and intelligence shared by Turkish law enforcement. Criminal police officers in Adjara identified and located both suspects within Batumi's municipal area.
Extradition Legal Procedures
Following the apprehensions, Georgian judicial and law enforcement authorities initiated formal extradition proceedings in accordance with national legislation and international legal assistance protocols.
The detainees remain in custody while the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia processes Turkey's extradition requests through the courts to ensure full legal compliance prior to any potential surrender.
