An official groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the Swissôtel Kobuleti Beach Resort, a large coastal development in western Georgia’s Adjara region.
The project is planned to include a modern hotel, residential apartments, sports and children’s facilities, recreation areas and conference halls. Developers say it will bring around $300 million in investment. Architecture is by the international firm Chapman Taylor, whose renderings show three high-rise towers on the Kobuleti shoreline with beach access and mountain views.
Tourism impact
Kobuleti sits between Batumi and the Turkish border and has grown as a summer destination with lower-density beachfront than Georgia’s main resort city. A branded five-star-scale complex would add premium hotel stock, meeting space and year-round amenities that local officials have linked to longer seasons and higher-spending visitors.
Construction timelines, room counts and opening dates have not been published in full. Large resort schemes in Adjara typically move through phased building permits, infrastructure upgrades and seasonal hiring before the first guests arrive.
For residents and expats along the coast, the scheme is another sign of continued foreign-branded investment on the Black Sea strip. Until operators confirm brands, management contracts and pricing, marketing materials should be read as plans rather than finished facilities.
