Georgia's Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has officially announced the opening dates for the upcoming migratory bird hunting season. The season will formally run from 22 August 2026 to 1 March 2027, allowing licensed hunters to pursue designated game bird species across eligible territories.

Permit Requirements and Fees

Hunters wishing to participate must obtain an official permit prior to entering the field. The state fee for the hunting permit is fixed at 10 GEL, payable through designated government financial channels and official portals.

Carrying proof of fee payment and valid personal identification is mandatory while engaged in hunting activities.

Restricted Zones and Equipment Rules

Strict geographical restrictions apply throughout the country to protect wildlife sanctuaries and public safety. Hunting is strictly prohibited in:

  • All municipal city limits and urban settlements
  • State nature reserves and strict nature reserves
  • National parks and protected landscape areas
  • Designated buffer zones around protected territories

Additionally, hunters must adhere strictly to legal equipment standards. Only legally permitted firearms, standard ammunition, and authorized hunting equipment may be used. The use of prohibited trapping devices, illegal firearms, or unauthorized electronic caller devices remains strictly illegal and subject to fines and confiscation.
