Authorities detained three citizens in the Pankisi Gorge on charges of joining the Islamic State and supporting terrorist activities.
Investigators say they allegedly received instructions from abroad, attempted to form a local support group, held secret meetings, and spread terrorist ideology to recruit others.
The investigation is continuing. Officials said law enforcement agencies remain in contact with local communities in the area.
