Georgia has reaffirmed its position as a global leader in mobile network performance while continuing to lag behind in fixed broadband infrastructure, according to the June 2026 Speedtest Global Index report.
High Performance in Mobile Networks
In the mobile segment, Georgia ranks 17th worldwide among surveyed countries, registering a median download speed of 156.3 Mbps. This performance places the country ahead of numerous European nations, reflecting significant investments in mobile network coverage and capacity across the territory.
In contrast, Georgia’s fixed broadband infrastructure performance ranks 107th out of 149 nations, with a median download speed recorded at 50.8 Mbps. This puts the country well behind the global median speed for fixed connections, which currently stands at approximately 129.7 Mbps.
Regional Comparisons and Infrastructure Impact
Regional data highlights a pronounced gap in fixed internet quality. Neighboring Azerbaijan ranks 84th globally with median fixed speeds of 92.2 Mbps, while Armenia holds 85th place with 91.7 Mbps. Both neighboring countries report fixed download speeds nearly double those measured in Georgia.
On the global scale, the United Arab Emirates leads the mobile performance ranking with a median speed of 760.93 Mbps, while Singapore holds the top spot for fixed broadband at 447.75 Mbps. Industry analysts note that strengthening fixed broadband capacity remains a key factor for supporting digital enterprise, remote employment, and cloud service adoption.
