Georgia and Kazakhstan have elevated their bilateral relationship to strategic partnership level, with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signing a declaration to that effect during Kobakhidze’s official visit to Kazakhstan.

According to Georgia’s Government Administration, the leaders discussed strengthening high-level political ties and broadening cooperation in trade, the economy, transport and logistics. Tourism was also on the agenda, with both sides looking to increase visitor flows between the two countries.
The declaration marks a formal step up from earlier cooperation frameworks and signals intent to work more closely across several policy areas.
Kobakhidze on the partnership
Kobakhidze said establishing strategic partnership was a significant milestone in relations between Tbilisi and Astana and would open new avenues for deeper cooperation. He framed the upgrade as a practical basis for expanding joint work rather than a symbolic gesture alone.

Following the meeting, both governments confirmed they intend to deepen collaboration in trade, investment, transport and tourism. Further technical talks and sector-level agreements are expected to follow as the partnership framework is put into practice.
