Georgia’s Interior Ministry says its Forensic-Criminalistics Department has received new unmanned aerial vehicles for use in Tbilisi, Batumi and other parts of the country.
The drones are intended to support experts working at incident scenes by recording visual material from the air.
Specialist training completed
According to the ministry, forensic experts completed a drone-operation course at the training base of the Emergency Management Service.
The programme included both theoretical instruction and practical training. The ministry did not specify how many drones were supplied or when they will begin routine use.
Evidence from the scene
The Interior Ministry said the use of drones at a scene can provide investigators with high-quality visual material that may have evidentiary value.
The equipment is expected to give specialists another way to document locations during forensic work across Georgia, including in Tbilisi and Batumi.
