Georgia’s Interior Ministry says two Chinese nationals have been detained on theft charges after cash belonging to passengers was allegedly taken during a flight and later recovered at an airport.
Cash Taken During the Flight
According to information released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the accused unlawfully took $7,800 and €4,450 that belonged to two passengers on board the aircraft. The ministry said the money was seized as physical evidence after officers identified and detained the suspects.
Arrest at the Airport
Investigators reported that operational measures and follow-up inquiries quickly established the identities of those believed responsible. The pair were detained on airport grounds as accused persons, the ministry said, after the trail from the alleged theft was pursued without delay.
Criminal Case Under Way
The case is being investigated under Article 177, Part 4 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which carries a possible prison term of up to 10 years. Officials did not name the flight, airline, or airport in the public statement, and no further personal details about the accused or the victims were released.
