Batumi Sea Port took part in a large educational and historical initiative titled “Institutional Memory of Batumi Self-Government and Development Prospects.”
The project was organised on the initiative of Batumi Sakrebulo chair Ivane Maisuradze and Mayor Giorgi Tsintsadze. Organisers say the aim is to acquaint successful students and young people with the history of local self-government, raise civic engagement and draw youth into discussion of the city’s future development.
Port as the final stop on the route
The specially prepared interactive route ended at the port’s exhibition space. Port director general Ulan Tleugali met students from the Batumi Maritime Academy and Shota Rustaveli State University, as well as participants from youth organisations, together with representatives of the city authorities and the Maritime Transport Agency.
Port administrators said Batumi’s history is closely tied to the harbour, which for decades has played a major role in economic development and in shaping the city.

“Batumi Sea Port is not merely an infrastructure facility, but a living chronicle of the city’s history. We are glad that the younger generation was able to learn directly about the heritage and economic foundation on which Batumi’s future is built,” the port administration said.
The port also said it is ready to continue supporting projects linked to youth education, historical memory and Batumi’s sustainable development.
