Shota Rustaveli State University in Batumi has officially opened a Peace Education Center, branded as a youth platform for peacebuilding. The new center will give students a structured setting to study conflicts, historical facts and contemporary processes linked to peaceful settlement and dialogue.

Opening ceremony

The launch event brought together Adjara government chair Zurab Pataradze, Georgian Education, Science and Youth Minister Givi Mikhanadze, and parliament first deputy chair Giorgi Volski. University rector Tite Aroshidze presented guests with an overview of the center's planned work.

Regional context

Pataradze said that given the region's historical, cultural and religious diversity, supporting educational platforms of this kind is especially important. Officials framed the center as part of broader efforts to strengthen dialogue-oriented learning for young people in Adjara.
