Batumi City Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of raping a minor girl and committing lewd acts against children, Georgia’s Prosecutor General’s Office said.

Arrest and background

Police detained the defendant on 6 November 2025. The Interior Ministry said at the time that he was 30 years old and had a prior criminal conviction.

Charges

Prosecutors charged him under two articles of Georgia’s Criminal Code:

  • Rape of a person known to be a minor, committed while the victim was in a helpless state (Article 137, Part 4)
  • Lewd acts against two persons known to the offender to be under 14 (Article 141, Part 2)

Sentence

The court found the man fully guilty on all counts and imposed the maximum penalty available under Georgian law.
